$10,000 Raffle

An expectant hush falls over the crowd as the first number is announced … one couple first groans and then laughs as they continue with their merrymaking, for everyone wins a good time at the $10,000 raffle. Later that night, the board is down to the last two surviving numbers … you and the owner of the other ticket waste no time conferring over whether to split the winnings, you are going for it all. Then your opponent’s number is called out, and you stand victorious, the winner of $10,000!

Well, we can’t guarantee that you will win, but we can guarantee that if you don’t play you won’t win!

The $10,000 Raffle will be held at the Jefferson Orleans South in Metairie on the evening of Saturday, May 12, 2001. Tickets numbered 1-300 will be sold for $110 each, gaining the buyer admission for two people to the party, and a chance to win a $10,000 prize. Numbers are drawn one-by-one from a barrel and crossed-out on the big board until only the winning number remains. Excitement mounts as the last few numbers are called because the ‘survivors’ have a chance to agree to either split the winnings, or to take a chance on another pull.

"The theme this season is 2001: A Gator Oddessey" said Dave Robards, cochair of the Raffle committee, " and we expect to have a really great time this year, with terrific food, music, and an open bar!" In addition to the main raffle, you will have the opportunity to try your luck on 50/50 and prize-basket raffles. "The $10,000 raffle is one of the biggest yearly fundraisers sponsored by the Men’s Club; our goal is to net over $13,000 to benefit the parish, school, and other organizations this year" said Peter Comeaux, cochair. This is the19th celebration of this yearly event.
