Presidents Message January 2002 Welcome
to a New Year! I hope that everyone
had a blessed Holiday Season. The
Christmas Brunch was excellent. Santa
Chuck Talley, his elves and Papa Noel Tim Durand did a great job.
I would estimate that we had about 150 people at the brunch.
There was plenty of food and pastries, and everyone had a great time. We also served hot chocolate for the Christmas Carolers on
the same night as the brunch. I
think that the Cold Cola was more popular than the hot chocolate due to our
humid weather but we were there to serve our parish.
Thanks go out to Donald Duzac, David Lynch, John Chrysoverges, Steve
Hebert, Kreig White, Rodney Junker, and Tom Lockhart for stepping up to the
plate to set up and serve the hot chocolate.
I couldnt do my job without your terrific help. We
have some big plans for the New Year. The
first BIG event that we have planned in January is our DONUT MASS on January 6th
at the 9am mass. Everyone loves
those beignets. We have planned our
first WORK PARTY on SATURDAY, JANUARY 19TH, 2002 from 8am until 12pm.
The goal of this work party is to repair or rebuild the Jazz Fest drink
holders/boxes/bins. Also, on this
day we plan to move the articles in the church return air room to our
storage facility on river road. We
are organizing and working behind the scenes to make sure these projects run
smoothly. Dont forget to bring
your tools, power equipment, and a truck if you have one, etc. The
last BIG event in January is something that is very important.
On Sunday, January 27th we will co-sponsor the Annual Parish
Blood Drive. We got involved with
this event for a very specific purpose. One
of our members, Al Bertaut has a son named Cole Bertaut who is sick with
Leukemia and is in need of blood. We
need every member of our club to get involved and support this event.
We will only need about 6 people to help sign people in, but we need
about 194 people to come out and give blood. Get a friend to register with you.
Please call 468-3466 today to pre register to donate this precious gift
of life. Oschner Hospital
will provide juice and cookies. Again,
the date is Sunday, January 27th 2002, from 9am until 12pm in the
Barrett Complex. We will need about 6-8 people to help set up for this event
at 8am. Call me if you can help at
835-3293. Something
to look forward to in February is our regular meeting on February 6th,
at 7:30 and then that Friday night on February 8th is our Mardi Gras
parade party. Remember to buy your
$10,000.00 Raffle Ticket. I
would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our members and their
families a safe and blessed New Year. Remember
our regular meeting is on Wednesday, January 2nd at 7:30pm. Paul Da
