President’s Message

February 2002

Gentlemen:

We had a very low turnout of members at our January meeting, but we forged ahead with our plans.  I knew if we planned a WORK PARTY and provided breakfast, lunch, and liquid refreshments the members would come.  For some reason, we had a low turnout for the Work Party too.  Well, we forged ahead with our small crew of 9 members and after a long day, got the work done.  I would like to thank David Lynch, Louis Bienvenu, Steve Bujol, Donald Duzac, Dave Robard, Steve Valdes, Jerry Bohnenstiehl, John Crysoverges, and two boy scouts (Trey Bates, and Tony Li).  We were able to move the Church Christmas Decorations to the attic of the rectory and make some repairs to Jazz Fest drink containers.  One of our members, Don Allen has agreed to have his company refinish the inside of the containers.  Thanks Don.

I know the rest of you members who couldn’t come to our work party are saving yourselves for the JAZZFEST, THE $10,000.00 RAFFLE, THE ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE and THE MEN’S CLUB GOLF TOURNAMENT.  We really need everyone’s help.  Please volunteer to help us continue our busiest and most exciting events of the year!  These fundraisers will provide most of our funding for the next year.  Let’s maintain our continued success!  I need every member of our club to step up to the plate and come out an have some fun by:

1)       Signing up to work a day at the Jazz Fest

2)       Put a deposit down on your $10,000.00 Raffle ticket

3)       Sign up to march or work at the St. Patricks Day Parade

4)       Get a foursome to play in the Golf Tournament or get your company to sponsor a hole

Some of the events planned for February are:

Wednesday, February 6th  Men’s Club Meeting                 7:30pm

Friday, February 8th Aquilla Parade Party at Delta World Tire 3639 Veterans Blvd

It’s very important to have a good turnout at our February Meeting.  At this meeting we will form our nominating committee to come up with suggested names for members to run for offices for next year.  If you are interested in being on the nominating committee or running for an office please call Steve Hebert at 832-8003.  Also, please make plans to sign up to march or work in the booth for St. Patricks Day parade on March 17th.  We need to also make plans for the Lenten Fish Fry.  We need volunteers to help out at the Fish Fry.  We will also need you to sign up for the Jazz Fest and put a down payment for your $10,000.00 Raffle ticket.

The Aquila Parade Party is a fun event for the family.  What we do is meet at the Delta Tire World at 3639 Veterans Blvd., at approximately 6:00pm and we have food and drink for the family and we enjoy a night out at the parade.

THIS IS FUN AND FREE.  PLEASE MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND

Thank you to all the members who assisted and gave blood for the benefit of Cole Bertaut.  We pray that the little bit we can do will help the Bertaut family.

Our donations and prayers will make a difference!

By the time you receive this newsletter we will be close to the Lenten Season.  Please take time during lent to reflect on your religious obligations and what you can do to make Lent a special time in your life.

Remember we: Work Hard, Play Hard and Pray Hard!
