President’s Message

April 2002

Gentlemen:

The month of March was another successful month.  Steve Hebert organized a very successful St. Patrick’s Day booth and Carl Livermore made sure that all the St. Patrick Day marchers made it home safely.  I would like to thank all the members who came out to help set-up and take down the booth and the decorations for the event.  I was extremely impressed to see some of our new members and their families helping out at these events.  Getting new members involved in our club is what will keep our club strong for years to come.  I would also like to thank all of our experienced members for coming out to help and make sure things ran smoothly.  We couldn’t survive without you.

April is going to be packed with fun events for the whole family.  Please mark your calendars with these very important dates.  We will start the month off with our Regular Meeting on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 7:30pm.  This meeting will be held in the cafeteria and we will vote for new officers for next year.  It is very important that we have a good turn out for this meeting.  The parish Gala will be held on Saturday, April 6th.

We are sponsoring a Family Barbecue on Saturday, April 13th from 11am until 4pm.  We decided have the barbecue on the school grounds and hopefully we can use the cafeteria tables to eat on.  Bring the kids, this is another fun event for the whole family.

The most important event of the month is Jazz Fest.  There will be two nights to get instructions and pick up your FREE Jazz Fest tickets and FREE parking passes.  The first ticket pickup date is Thursday, April 18th at 7pm in the Melancon Center.  The second ticket pickup date is Tuesday, April 23rd at 7pm in the Melancon Center.  The actual dates for the Jazz Fest is Friday, April 26th, Saturday, the 27th and Sunday, the 28th. Then we start over the next week on Thursday, May 2nd, Friday the 3rd, Saturday the 4th, and Sunday the 5th.  Remember working this event does not cost you anything and we are earning money from people outside of our parish.  As you can see these dates are right around the corner so PLEASE SIGN UP TO WORK SEVERAL SHIFTS TODAY.  You can sign up by calling David Lynch at 833-5327 or by visiting our web site at SCSMC.ORG.  Please sign up today, WE NEED DAY CAPTAINS AND PEOPLE TO WORK IN THE AFTERNOONS.  Remember that this is one of our BIG 3 FUNDRAISERS.  We need your support.

Our Family Donut Mass is scheduled for Sunday, April 21st in the Melancon Center. We will attend the 9am mass and then gather together to share donuts with our parish family in the Melancon Center.  Please try to attend, remember this is another fun & free family event.

Our Installation of Officers Dinner will be held on May 1st at Zeke’s Restaurant.  Please make sure that you sign up for this event at the April meeting.  Steve Hebert has to give the restaurant a count of how many people will attend, so please sign up as soon as possible. The food is going to be served buffet style so no one should go home hungry.  Please join me in celebrating the start of a exciting new year with our newly installed officers.

The $10,000.00 Raffle will be held on Saturday, May 11th at the Jefferson Orleans South. This event is another one of our BIG 3 FUNDRAISERS. If you haven’t purchased your ticket please do so today.  We want to have a sell out of tickets before the night of the event.  Remember that we will let you put money down on your ticket and pay the balance before the event.  The Raffle is MUCHO FUN, SO DON’T MISS OUT ON A CHANCE TO HAVE A GREAT NIGHT OUT, AND YOU MIGHT JUST WIN $10,000.00.

For all of you golfers, our Golf Tournament is set for Friday, June 21st.  This is the 3rd of our BIG 3 FUNDRAISERS.  Sign up at our Regular Meeting on Wednesday, April 3rd.

Remember, We Work Hard, Play Hard and Pray Hard,
