Summer CabbageBall Program St. Catherine of Siena Men's Club 2009 Summer Program Dear Parents: The St. Catherine of Siena Men's Club is pleased to announce the return of its CABBAGEBALLSUMMER PROGRAM for all kids between the ages of 4 and 12. A child does not have to be a student or parishioner of St. Catherine’s to participate. Team play will be Monday and Wednesday nights, with games approximately one (1) hour in duration. The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten teams start play at 6:00 PM, the 1st and 2nd graders start at 7:00 PM, and the 3rd graders and older at 8:00 PM. If enough diamonds are available, the last group could play one hour earlier. All games are played in the SCS schoolyard. Grade level will determine placement in a group. The purpose of the program is to provide a non-competitive, fun league that teaches the children team sportsmanship and the fundamentals of cabbageball. There are no formal practice sessions outside of the game times listed, and since the program is for fun, there are no standings, playoffs, or championships. Children are placed on teams according to age and experience. If your child has a friend that you would like to be on the same team, please indicate the friend's name on the notes section of the registration form and every effort will be made to place the children together. This is not always possible, however, since every effort is made not to "stack" the teams. The coordinators have final decision as to team placement. There will be no more than fifteen (15) players to a team. There will be coaches' meetings on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 where the coaches will be able to make changes to the roster if necessary. Each grade level's coaches' meeting will occur at same hour as it's normal game time. We hope to have team jerseys available on that night. Play will begin on Monday, June 8, 2009, No games are scheduled for the week of July 4th. Team pictures will be taken during the second week of play with a make up date in the third week should games get rained out. Players will receive their trophies after the last games on Wednesday, July 22nd. The concession stand will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, popcorn, candy, pickles, potato chips, freeze pops, soft drinks, water, and beer. We also hope to have local restaurants cook up special delicacies this summer to offer on a rotating basis. We are always looking for help to cook and serve food, so if you are interested, please call John Chryssoverges at 738-2478 or 453-1643 or Dirk Wild at 834-1398. E-mail your questions to scsmcsummerprogram@cox.net. Team sponsors are needed. The cost to sponsor a team is $125.00 ($100.00 per team if you sponsor more than one). Your company logo or personal design will be printed on the back of your team's T-shirts. Please attach a copy of your logo to the registration form. We will also sell sponsorships for the cabbageball diamonds The cost is $ 125.00 and the sponsor logo will be displayed for one night. If you are interested in coaching, please acknowledge so on the registration form or contact a coordinator. You do not have to have a child participating and there is no age limit.
